Car engine oil, based on HC synthesis SAE 5W-30 low Ash, e.g. for petrol-powered vehicles an vehicles with extended change intervals. Meets, among others, MB 229.51 and VW 505.01 and BMW Longlife-04.

SAE = Society of Automotive Engineers

The fluidity of a motor oil is described in SAE-classes. For example, a motor oil with SAE 5W-40, the first digit describes the thinness at low temperatures. The smaller the digit the better and faster the motor oil can flow at low temperatures.

Thus it reaches the remote lubrication point in the engine faster. The second digit indicates the fluidity at high temperatures.

0W-30 5W-30
5W-40 10W-30
10W-40 15W-40, etc.

ACEA = Association des Constructeurs Européens d’Automobiles

Engine oil specifications differentiate for petrol and diesel engines between Ax/Bx and the Cx classifications for which sulphate-ash, sulfur and phosphorus were reduced.

The API differs engine oils into service classes (S) for petrol engines and commercial classes (C ) for diesel engines
